Getting a divorce in England hasn't changed for many years and the according to this government time has come for a change. The press has talked about no fault divorce and now those plans have been shelved. Divorce is a legal process to dissolve a marriage after it has irretrievably broken down. Many divorces are amicable and both parties decide a separation is the best all round. However under the present law you must chose one of the facts to base your petition. There are 5 in total 4 of which places blame on the other party and only 1 is by agreement but you have to separate for 2 years first. That is in some cases a long time to put your life on hold. This is where the idea of a no fault divorce enters the arena where a petition could be issued when there is no one to blame. The idea is sound but it was perhaps the time for change was not quite right. A new idea came to life in which people who wish to divorce must sit through information meetings probably to try and get couples to reconsider. Trials of these meetings were a failure and this is the main reason why no fault divorce has been put on hold. However 1 or 2 changes in the near future will no doubt put no fault divorces on the statute books but will it be a good thing? Divorce procedure themselves involve court procedure but in many cases neither party has to go to cort and it is all done as a paper exercise Another fad that has taken the media is the idea of DIY divorce, cutting out the lawyer and ther fee. This may sound good and , you may say typical, we do not believe this is right. The procedure can be complex and it is important that the forms are completed properly otherwise complications can arise The Divorce petition itself will enable parties to make financial claims upon each other and this is complex We have carried many Divorces and have the experience to see the Divorce through to an end with the minimal of stress and time To ensure your Divorce proceeds smoothly do the right thing and contact us However as with all the information each case is different and you should contact us for specific advice |
